HOW DID WE GET HERE?

Preparatory steps began in the fall of 2006, when the College of Staten Island President’s Roundtable engaged ACP Visioning+Planning to conduct a feasibility study to “plan for a vision” for Staten Island. ACP conducted numerous stakeholder interviews to learn about local concerns and determine how to best structure a vision process that would take into account the complex economic, political, and social reality of the borough. ACP developed a proposal for how Vision for Staten Island might proceed, and worked closely with the CSI President’s Roundtable and the Staten Island Foundation to refine the approach.

Steering Committee
The 100-member Steering Committee is intended to fairly represent the wide range of interests found on Staten Island. The Steering Committee guides all aspects of the vision process. Members help design each step of the program, reach out to the public, review the results, and bring to life a compelling vision – our collective vision – for the future of the borough. Members of the steering committee will then assist in the process of turning talk into action and implementing our vision for the future.  You can download a complete list of Steering Committee members by

Friends of the Vision Effort
A strong civic coalition called the Friends of the Vision Effort is being formed in support of the vision. The Friends of the Vision Effort includes neighborhood and civic organizations, not-for-profits, businesses, and special interest groups.
